Acquiring Citizenship

There are numerous ways to apply for citizenship for St. Kitts and Nevis. 

Investment

Initial applications for Citizenship by Investment (CBI) are not handled by the High Commission. Please visit ciu.kn. 

Any inquiries can be made at the St. Kitts and Nevis UAE Embassy  (phone number xxxxxx) or via email ( email xxxxxxxxxx) or alternatively contact can be made with the Ministry of National Security in St. Kitts and Nevis via telephone (phone number xxxxxx).

Citizenship by Descent Application (CBI)

Note:  

  • The Embassy  can assist with the review of applications and in sending them to St. Kitts and Nevis in the case of Citizenship by Descent for parents who acquired Citizenship by Investment 
  • All documents must be originals (plus photocopies) 
  • Please make cheques payable to: ACCOUNTANT GENERAL OF ST. KITTS AND NEVIS.
  • Applicants will be advised of all documents required 
  • We are unable to refund the fees for an application that has been unsuccessful or withdrawn

Descent

Document Required for Application by Descent (Newborn Baby):

  • Original passport of the parents or legalized copies (by lawyer or Notary public)
  • Original Certificate of Registration of the parents or legalized copies (by lawyer or notary public)
  • Original Birth certificate of Child (from the country of birth) translated in English and certified.
  • Original Marriage Certificate of the parents (Translated in English and certified)
  • 4 recent passport size photos (2 photos to be stamped at the back by lawyer or Medical Doctor of Child)
  • Medical report certificate for the Child (a complete report from the doctor that clarifiea that the Child is in good health and free from any diseases)
  • Passport application form (the recommender section to be signed by the

medical doctor of the Child or the Lawyer as per the instructions)

  • Citizenship Application form (2 copies of the form to be signed in person and legalized by lawyer or at the Embassy)

Fees:

  • International Bank Draft of 250 USD and 375 USD, cheque to be addressed to “Accountant General of Kitts and Nevis”.
  • Cash of 730 AED for courier
  • Any attestation/ Legalization needed or suggested by the Embassy will cost 370 AED each document.

Note:

  • Applicant must provide an authorization letter to the person applying on their behalf.
  • Standard process time takes up to 6 working months (depending on due approvals and diligence)
  • International Bank Draft muat be paid in USD

Marriage

Listed below are the necessary requirements when applying for citizenship by Marriage: 

  • Completed application form (original and photocopy) 
  • Spouse’s birth certificate (original and photocopy) 
  • Marriage certificate (original and photocopy) 
  • Fee of: 
  • xxxxx if married before 1983 
  • xxxxxx if married after 1983 
  • Four (4) photographs 
  • Any other documents that may be required 

Citizenship by Marriage Application  

Documents could be delivered to the St. Kitts-Nevis UAE Embassy (Address xxxxxxxx) 

Alternatively, documents could be sent directly to the Ministry of Homeland Security;

Name Change

Kindly note that when a person changes his/her name in the UAE or elsewhere, this does not automatically mean the name change is accepted in St. Kitts and Nevis. 

  • If a citizen changes his/ her name in the UAE by virtue of marriage or deed poll, this would be valid in the UAE. In order to have the name change recognised in St. Kitts and Nevis, the citizen would also have to register the name change in the Federation. Once the name change has been successfully processed, the name change will be displayed in the observation page of his/her passport. 
  • To execute a name-change in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis, an individual would need to contact a lawyer within the Federation to process the change by deed poll. The St. Kitts and Nevis Bar Association has a list of lawyers (https://www.sknbar.org/) 
  • The standard government fees associated with a name change by deed poll are as follows:

  • xxxxx filing the name change. 
  • Legal fee – xxxxx. Please note that this fee is set by the Bar Council.
